Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Kuhlenkötter

Mr. Kuhlenkötter studied Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund where he also obtained his doctorate. He subsequently assumed responsibility for representing the professorship on the subject of Industrial Robotics and Handling Systems at the Institute for Robot Research at TU Dortmund. Here, the process simulation of robot-assisted fabrication processes and the development of innovative automation solutions were fundamental fields of research. At the start of 2007, Mr. Kuhlenkötter moved to ABB Automation GmbH as the Development Manager. Here, his area of responsibility encompassed the development of new robot technologies in cooperation with international ABB development centres. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Kuhlenkötter is the holder of the Chair for Production Systems (LPS) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2015. Previously, he was head of the Institute for Production Systems of the TU Dortmund and held the Chair of Industrial Robotics and Production Automation (IRPA) at the TU Dortmund. Bernd Kuhlenkötter is a member and founding president of the Scientific Society for Assembly, Handling and Industrial Robotics (MHI), member of the Scientific Society for Production Technology (WGP) and the Scientific Society for Industrial Organization (WGAB) eV, and is also the Research Committee´s Representative of the IFR (International Federation of Robotics) active in the General Assembly.
