Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Thomas Kuntze

Mr. Kuntze has graduated in 1995. He studied Physical Technologies / Lasertechnology at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida from 1996 to 2001. Main interest in his diploma was on setting up a system to laser mark and micromachine materials using microoptoelectromechanical systems (MOEMs). At Fraunhofer IWS he was working in the field of lasermicromachining with a broad range of materials from 2001 to 2007. In 2007 he developed his interest in process monitoring and changed into the department Chemical Reaction and Surface Technology. Main focus of his work was characterization of mainly gaseous species via various spectroscopic methods. He then found gas-borne nanoparticle characterization as his special field of work. In 2013, Mr. Kuntze changed back to the lasermicromachining department and since then there have been made huge steps in the ultra-short pulsed laser system development which implied a very interesting broadening of machining possibilities.
