Dr. Tanvir Hussain

Dr Tanvir Hussain is the Principal Investigator (PI) on this research project. He is currently employed an Assistant Professor in Materials Engineering (Coatings) at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham. His research has a strong element of fundamental aspects in thermal spray and its potential application in the energy sector. The process-microstructure-properties relationship is at the heart of his research and he has recently focused on the understanding of the performance of the novel nanostructured and nanocomposite coatings. He has published 35 peer reviewed journal papers, 35 international peer reviewed conference papers and two book chapters in thermal spray, cold gas dynamic spray and suspension thermal spray. He leads the Coating Materials for Energy (CME) team (www.nottingham.ac.uk/cme ) which consists of a team of 15 researchers. His current research portfolio has been supported by major UK players in the high value manufacturing sector, specifically Rolls-Royce (Aerospace) plc, Bombardier Transportation, EON, Wallwork Heat Treatment, Castolin Eutectic, TWI etc. He serves as Associated Editor of the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology and Associate Editor of Journal of Thermal Spray Technology (JTST), a major journal on thermally sprayed coatings. He is involved in developing standards as a part of the BSI committee STI/040 on Thermal Spraying and Thermally Sprayed Coatings.
