Johannes Wilden obtained his doctorate on the subject of Pseudoalloys on an MCrAlY basis for component protection - coating possibilities and coat properties. Subsequently, he was employed at Philips GmbH from 1989 to 1993. He worked as a Senior Engineer at the University of Dortmund at the Materials Sciences professorship from 1993 to 1997 and also obtained his post-doctoral qualification there. Thereafter, he had a teaching assignment at the Technical University of Chemnitz from 1997 to 2001. He was the Head of the Fabrication Technology faculty at the Technical University of Ilmenau from 2002 and moved to the Technical University of Berlin in January 2008 where he has been the Head of the Joining and Coating Technology faculty. Since 2011 he is head of the department for functional materials and coatings on the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering of the University of Applied Science, Krefeld.
